    5th Grade Science

    April is a short month due to Easter vacation.  Here is what we hope to cover.  Chapter 6 Earth and Space. We will continue to investigate the inner and outer planets in our Solar System.  We will also take a closer look at what asteroids, meteors, comets, and moons.  We will be in the lab working on How can spinning affect a planet's shape?  We will also take a closer look at How are the sizes of the inner and outer planets different taking into consideration diameter and metric measurements.   

    6th Grade Science

    April is a short month due to Easter vacation.  Here is what we hope to cover.  We will be beginning Chapter 4 on Climate and Climate Change.  In this chapter we will focus on What causes climate?  What causes the seasons?  We'll identify the six climate regions.  We'll take a look at long-term changes in climate and idenify factors that can cause climate change.  We'll look at events that can cause short term climate changes.  Finally, we'll investigate how human activites might be affecting the temperature of Earth's atmosphere. 

    7th Grade Science

    April is a short month due to Easter vacation.  Here is what we hope to cover.  We will be beginning Chapter 3 on Elements and the Periodic Table.  to begin this, we'll begin an introduction to atoms and the structure of an atom.  We'll describe the elements in terms of their atoms.  Students will be introduced to Mendeleev and how he discovered the pattern that led to the periodic table.  Within the periodic table, we'll take time to describe metals, nonmetals, and metalloids.

    8th Grade Science

    April is a short month due to Easter vacation.  Here is what we hope to cover.  We will be beginning Chapter 2 on Chemical Reactions.  We'll be observing chemical changes and explaining how you can tell when a chemical reaction occurs.  We'll work on naming the three categories of chemical reactions.  We'll explain what a balanced chemical equation must show.  Students will also review the principle of conservation of mass and when this is used.  

     8th Grade Religion  

    Students should continue to work on mass reflections each Sunday as part of their Religion grade.  Also, the last Thursday of April will be another prayer test day.  Students will be required to state the Mysteries of the Rosary found on page 5 of the Prayer Book.

    Service hours are being scheduled for April for both bulletins and church cleaning.  Schedules will be distributed to students who signed up for these hours.
